Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) license required
  • Previous experience working with school-aged children (K-12), covering a range of ages and abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of O&M instructional techniques and adaptive equipment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, students, and families
  • Ability to assess, develop, and implement individualized O&M plans
  • Commitment to promoting student safety and independence in school and community settings

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct orientation and mobility assessments for students with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement individualized instruction for safe navigation in various environments, including school premises and travel within the community
  • Work collaboratively with other educational professionals to ensure student goals are integrated with overall educational plans
  • Consult with teachers and support staff to provide guidance and resources
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, adapting goals as necessary
  • Facilitate independence and self-advocacy for students with visual impairments

This contract position offers a full-time weekly schedule of 32.5 hours, running from September through June during regular school hours. Youll provide direct onsite support while working alongside passionate educators dedicated to student growth.
