Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting students with visual impairments as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. In this part-time, contract position, you'll work onsite with a single school, providing expert guidance to help students develop the spatial awareness and independence skills essential for navigating varied environments confidently and safely.

Key Experience & Qualifications:

  • Valid Orientation & Mobility Certification for California
  • Experience or strong interest in working with K-12 students who are blind or have low vision
  • Deep understanding of spatial, sensory, and mobility techniques to foster student autonomy
  • Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills for working with school staff, students, and families
  • Ability to create tailored strategies that address individual students needs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments 2-3 days per week throughout the current and upcoming school years
  • Teach effective sensory and orientation techniques, enabling safe, independent mobility at school and in the community
  • Assess students abilities, develop personalized mobility plans, and monitor their progress
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers and other specialists to ensure comprehensive support for each student
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages confidence, self-advocacy, and growth

Compensation for this position ranges from $45.00 to $60.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
