Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Current, active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) license required
  • Experience providing O&M services within K-12 environments highly preferred
  • Proficiency in assessment, individualized instruction, and development of student mobility goals
  • Ability to tailor support for varying age groups and skill levels
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, school staff, and families
  • Commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to educational best practices

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized orientation and mobility training to students across elementary, middle, and high school settings
  • Assess students needs and create customized lesson plans targeting travel skills and independent navigation
  • Collaborate with special education team members to integrate O&M strategies into students educational programs
  • Communicate progress and recommendations clearly with parents, teachers, and specialists
  • Ensure a safe learning environment, adapting approaches according to each students unique needs
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide detailed reports on student progress and achievements
