Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, serving students who are visually impaired near Kingman, AZ. This contract position runs from July 15th, 2026, through May 19th, 2027, with a flexible commitment of 4.5 hours per month. Youll play a pivotal role in supporting students independence and confidence by providing individualized orientation and mobility instruction throughout the school year.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with school-aged children and youth
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in orientation and mobility instruction
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to create and implement personalized mobility training plans
  • Commitment to fostering independence and self-advocacy in students
  • Familiarity with a range of adaptive techniques and assistive technology

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students orientation and mobility needs and performances
  • Develop tailored instructional strategies to increase navigational skills
  • Collaborate with educational teams, families, and related service providers
  • Train students to safely navigate school grounds, public transportation, and community settings
  • Maintain clear documentation to support IEP goals and objectives
  • Provide consultation and guidance to staff regarding student safety and accessibility
