Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current, valid Orientation and Mobility (O&M) license
- Proven experience supporting students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in school or similar settings
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to adapt activities and instruction to different environments and student needs
- Dedication to fostering independence and confidence in students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide orientation and mobility instruction to students, building skills for safe travel in a variety of settings
- Assess student abilities and create individualized plans suited to each childs needs and goals
- Collaborate with families, teachers, and support staff to ensure consistency and progress
- Document student progress and maintain communication with relevant stakeholders
- Instruct students for 7 hours per week, scheduled 1 day per week, with a flexible caseload depending on individual student needs
- Deliver services in welcoming, community-based locations outside the traditional classroom
