Make a real impact in the lives of K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, working full-time in a rewarding contract position supporting several school districts across Greene and Washington Counties. In this dynamic role, youll collaborate with students and educators, providing expert guidance and direct services to help students with visual impairments achieve greater independence in their school environments.
Your role will involve in-person assessments and instruction, with a varied caseload and a focus on delivering individualized orientation and mobility programming. Youll benefit from the opportunity to engage with a diverse student population, traveling between multiple sites and working closely with supportive educational teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current and active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) license required.
- Experience serving K-12 students in a school-based or similar setting is preferred.
- Comfortable traveling between locations within Greene and Washington Counties (mileage reimbursed).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective orientation and mobility plans.
- Flexible, resourceful, and dedicated to fostering student success and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess travel and orientation needs for students with visual impairments.
- Design and deliver individualized instruction, adapting to student needs and IEP goals.
- Consult and coordinate with school staff, families, and related service providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and progress records.
- Travel to assigned schools within the designated area as needed.
- Participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary planning sessions.
This is a full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week) beginning as soon as possible and continuing through June 2026. Youll have a chance to grow professionally and make a daily difference for students in multiple districts.
