An exciting contract opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the 20252026 school year near Hollywood, Florida. In this role, youll provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, helping them build the skills needed to navigate their school, home, and community environments safely and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach orientation and mobility techniques customized to each students individual needs
- Provide training in assistive technology to promote independence
- Manage a caseload of students receiving orientation and mobility services
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to ensure student success and safety
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited program with a focus in Orientation and Mobility (Masters preferred)
- Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), or eligibility to obtain certification within a specified timeframe
- Experience working with individuals who are visually impaired preferred
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
