Job Description

A contract opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support the 2025/26 school year in Hollywood, FL. This role involves providing specialized instruction and training to students with visual impairments, empowering them to navigate school, home, and community environments safely and independently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering mobility techniques and orientation strategies tailored to each students needs
  • Teaching use of assistive technologies to enhance student independence
  • Managing a caseload of students requiring orientation and mobility services
  • Collaborating with educators, families, and support staff to optimize student learning and safety

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis on Orientation and Mobility; Masters degree preferred
  • Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), or eligibility to achieve certification within the designated timeframe
  • Experience working with individuals who are visually impaired is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish candidates are preferred
