A contract opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist supporting the 2025-2026 school year in Hialeah, FL. This role involves providing specialized instruction and training to students with visual impairments, enabling them to navigate school, home, and community environments with confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering orientation and mobility instruction using evidence-based techniques.
• Training students in the use of assistive technologies designed for mobility and independence.
• Assessing students needs and developing individualized mobility plans.
• Collaborating with educators, families, and related service providers to support student success.
• Documenting progress and maintaining detailed records in compliance with school policies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree from an accredited institution with a focus on Orientation and Mobility; a Masters degree is preferred.
• Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) certification, or eligibility and commitment to obtain certification within the prescribed timeframe.
• Previous experience working with visually impaired students is highly desirable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred to support diverse student populations.
