Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with students in a school environment preferred
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with school staff and families
  • Ability to customize mobility instruction to student needs and assessment results
  • Dedication to fostering student independence and confidence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct personalized assessments to determine students mobility and safety needs
  • Develop and implement tailored orientation and mobility instruction plans
  • Teach safe navigation techniques using canes and other adaptive devices
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure seamless student support
  • Monitor progress and document student outcomes to inform future instruction
