Make a meaningful difference by supporting students in their educational journey as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This contract opportunity offers flexible scheduling and the chance to work across various school sites, providing vital services to learners of all ages.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio Orientation & Mobility Specialist (O&M) certification required
- Experience working within school settings, particularly with students who are blind or visually impaired
- Adaptability and willingness to travel between buildings as needed
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
- Organized, self-directed, and dedicated to meeting diverse student needs
What You'll Do:
- Provide one-on-one and group orientation and mobility instruction to students of various age groups
- Assess individual needs and develop appropriate goals and instructional plans
- Support students in navigating school environments and the community safely and independently
- Communicate progress and recommendations with educational teams and families
- Travel between assigned schools within the district, tailoring services to daily caseload requirements
- Maintain accurate records of services, assessments, and outcomes
The assignment is set to begin August 11, 2026, and run through May 21, 2027, for approximately 10 hours per week. The schedule remains flexible, allowing for adjustment according to student needsdetails can be discussed further during the interview process, to be conducted via Zoom.
