A part-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist position is available in Fremont, CA, supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting. This role involves working onsite 2-3 days per week during the current and upcoming school years, focusing on enhancing student mobility, spatial awareness, and sensory techniques across various environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing specialized training for students who are blind or have low vision
- Developing and implementing orientation and mobility strategies tailored to individual needs
- Supporting students in adapting to their environments safely and independently
- Collaborating with school staff and families to reinforce mobility skills
Qualifications:
- Valid Orientation & Mobility Certification for California
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments
- Strong understanding of sensory techniques and spatial awareness training
- Ability to work effectively in an onsite school environment
