Job Description

A Remote School-Based Bilingual (Spanish) Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M Specialist) position is available, serving K-12 students across Texas. This contract role offers the flexibility of full or part-time hours, engaging five days per week during the contract school year.

Responsibilities include assessing and developing mobility skills for students with visual impairments or blindness, designing individualized orientation and mobility programs, and collaborating remotely with educators, families, and support staff to promote independence and safety for K-12 students. The specialist will employ their expertise to help students effectively navigate their environments and improve their confidence in various settings.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Texas Orientation and Mobility (O&M) License required
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred to communicate effectively with diverse student populations and families
  • Experience working with visually impaired or blind students in educational settings
  • Ability to deliver remote instruction and assessments tailored to individual student needs
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with school teams and families
