A school-based opportunity is available for experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialists (OMS) to support students within the Denver, CO area for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position offers the chance to work with a dynamic public school district, serving various school locations and student age groups. Assignments and caseloads may vary as the district finalizes staffing plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized orientation and mobility services to K-12 students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement individualized plans to enhance student independence and safety
- Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to support student development
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and state requirements
Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Department of Education Special Service License with Orientation & Mobility Specialist Endorsement is required
- Completion of background check and fingerprinting as mandated by the school district
- Experience working with school-aged children, preferably 0-10+ years in a related role
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
Location and Schedule:
- Position is based onsite in the Denver metropolitan area with assignments potentially across multiple schools
- Work schedule and hours per week to be determined based on district needs and assignment specifics
- The contract covers a school year starting August 6, 2026, through May 26, 2027
