Step into a vital role serving K12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, supporting schools in the Oviedo and Sanford areas. This contract opportunity offers a meaningful way to contribute to the development and independence of visually impaired students by providing essential compensatory and direct mobility services. Working onsite, youll collaborate with educational teams and families, delivering expertise where its most impactful.
Key Qualifications & Requirements:
- Current National Orientation and Mobility (O&M) licensure
- Vision certification required for this position
- Experience working with K12 age groups preferred
- Ability to travel between school sites as needed
- Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit
- Must possess a valid drivers license and social security card
- Physical copy of your professional license (web copies not accepted)
- Completion of Form 1403 Fingerprinting (Contracted Services), and a receipt from a Field Print location
- Submission of a demographic form and I9 (sections 1 and 2)
- Working email address
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct orientation and mobility instruction to students in grades K12, primarily for compensatory services
- Administer evaluations as needed to assess student needs and progress
- Develop individualized strategies to help students safely navigate school and community environments
- Document sessions, progress, and collaborate with IEP teams
- Adapt materials and approaches to accommodate a variety of needs and settings
This position spans the academic year, from August 2026 to May 2027, at 37.5 hours per week. Flexible work across multiple school sites will ensure you impact a diverse range of students.
