This contract position is ideal for a dedicated professional seeking a part-time role for the upcoming school year. You'll have the opportunity to provide crucial orientation and mobility training to students while collaborating with educational teams and families.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid Texas license as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Previous experience working in school-based settings strongly preferred
- Strong case management and documentation abilities
- Comfortable delivering both direct and indirect student services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop individualized instructional plans and adapt to diverse needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized orientation and mobility instruction to students as outlined in IEPs
- Deliver both direct and indirect services for approximately 2 hours per week
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records
- Track and document student progress, evaluating outcomes and making instructional adjustments as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student access across school environments
- Consult with teachers, families, and staff to ensure consistent student support
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development as necessary
