Job Description

A K-12 educational setting in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide specialized support to students with moderate to severe vision impairments. This role focuses on delivering individualized instruction to help students who are blind or visually impaired develop skills in safe and effective navigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored orientation and mobility instruction to PreK-12 students with moderate to severe vision impairments.
  • Assess each students needs and design appropriate mobility plans to foster independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to support individualized education programs.
  • Monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed throughout the school year.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS).
  • Experience working with school-age children with visual impairments.
