Job Description

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with K-12 students is highly valued
  • Deep knowledge of mobility techniques, including cane travel and sensory development
  • Strong communication skills when reporting on student progress and working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to design age-appropriate orientation and mobility training based on individual needs
  • Passion for empowering students to navigate safely and independently

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify each students strengths and areas for growth
  • Develop individualized programs to increase mobility and orientation skills
  • Provide direct instruction in cane use, route planning, and environmental awareness
  • Partner with teachers and families to facilitate student integration in academic and social settings
  • Document progress and adapt plans to ensure meaningful, measurable student development
  • Offer consultative support and training to school staff as needed
