Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) license is required
  • Demonstrated experience in a professional school setting, supporting students at various grade levels (K-12)
  • Strong understanding of O&M assessments and skill-building techniques
  • Excellent communication abilities for working with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Role Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and create customized orientation and mobility plans tailored to individual student needs
  • Provide direct instruction and intervention to students throughout the school day, using evidence-based methods
  • Offer guidance and training to staff and parents to facilitate skill reinforcement beyond the classroom
  • Maintain thorough documentation and progress notes in compliance with state and district guidelines
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and collaborate with the broader support team to develop cohesive educational plans
