Key Qualifications:
- Current Massachusetts Orientation and Mobility Specialist license
- Direct professional background in a school setting
- Commitment to person-centered, age-appropriate instruction
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide O&M assessments and develop individualized instructional plans for students K-12
- Teach safe travel techniques including cane use, route planning, and environmental awareness
- Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, and families to integrate O&M strategies into students routines
- Document progress, adjust approaches as needed, and provide guidance on accessibility and safety
- Advocate for the needs of students with visual impairments within the school community
