Job Description
A school district near Tinley Park, IL has an opening for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide services to an elementary school student in a contract position.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one evaluation for a 5th grade student with a documented hearing impairment and bilateral cochlear implants.
- Support the students access to and safe navigation within the school environment.
- Manage an elementary caseload with a 1:1 student focus.
- Collaborate with educators and staff to implement effective orientation and mobility strategies tailored to the students needs.
Qualifications:
- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS).
- Experience working with students who have hearing impairments and mobility challenges.
- Ability to conduct thorough evaluations and develop individualized plans.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with school personnel and families.
