Job Description

A school district near Tinley Park, IL has an opening for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide services to an elementary school student in a contract position.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one evaluation for a 5th grade student with a documented hearing impairment and bilateral cochlear implants.
  • Support the students access to and safe navigation within the school environment.
  • Manage an elementary caseload with a 1:1 student focus.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to implement effective orientation and mobility strategies tailored to the students needs.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS).
  • Experience working with students who have hearing impairments and mobility challenges.
  • Ability to conduct thorough evaluations and develop individualized plans.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with school personnel and families.
