Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract role as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, supporting early childhood and elementary students throughout a vibrant school community near Blue Springs, MO. This part-time position spans the entire current school year, providing an engaging caseload and the flexibility to focus on what you do bestempowering young learners to move through their world with greater confidence.

Highlights of the Position:

  • Structured weekly service delivery: Approximately 3.2 hours/week of direct O&M instruction for early childhood and elementary students
  • Monthly family and staff consultations: Around 1.6 hours/month to collaborate and ensure continuity between home and school
  • Flexible scheduling: Choose AM or PM slots at select early childhood sites to accommodate your availability
  • Hands-on, on-site presence: Serve students at one elementary location and two early childhood centers (virtual options are not offered for this role)
  • Consistent support: Join a district that values your expertise, providing a collaborative environment and resources tailored to your needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in orientation and safe mobility, fostering spatial awareness and independent travel skills
  • Complete initial and re-evaluations for early childhood students
  • Lead regular consultations with parents, teachers, and other staff to ensure holistic student development
  • Document progress, participate in team meetings, and help adapt environments for optimal student independence

Qualifications Sought:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility certification/licensure in Missouri
  • Experience in pediatric or school-based O&M services is preferred
  • Successful completion of district onboarding and background check processes prior to your start date
