Orientation and Mobility Specialist Corpus Christi, TX (Contract)

A school district in Corpus Christi, TX is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to provide essential mobility services for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. This part-time contract position involves working 16 hours per week across two days, supporting students with visual impairments to develop safe and effective travel skills.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist License is required
  • Experience working with K-12 students in educational settings preferred
  • Strong assessment and instructional skills related to mobility and environmental adaptation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities for working with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations and develop individualized O&M plans tailored to students needs
  • Teach safe travel techniques and orientation strategies in various school and community environments
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to integrate O&M goals into students educational plans
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and services provided
  • Stay current with best practices and state regulations relating to orientation and mobility services

Location and Schedule:

  • Position based in Corpus Christi, TX
  • 16 hours per week, scheduled over 2 days
