Job Description

This role offers flexibility in scheduling within a supportive school environment, with part-time hours (20 per week) and potential to increase as needs grow.

Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • National Certification in Music Therapy required
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment and provision of music therapy for students with diverse needs, including autism and developmental disabilities
  • Prior experience developing and implementing IEP-aligned therapy goals and documentation
  • Familiarity with music therapy procedures, strategies, and adaptive equipment (music equipment not provided)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, parents, and students
  • Ability to pass a district fingerprinting background check (existing prints may be sufficient)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group music therapy within a campus setting
  • Develop, manage, and adapt therapy schedules and interventions based on IEP and school requirements
  • Assess student progress, participate in ARD meetings, and support appropriate placements and goal setting
  • Provide staff training, consultation, and support to enhance the integration and understanding of music therapy programs
  • Create a positive, developmentally appropriate learning environment, maintaining compliance with district policies
  • Maintain thorough records, reports, and other required documentation
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and fulfill other duties as assigned
