Job Description
A full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is available in a school setting in Woodford, VA, to provide specialized medical support for students. This is a contract role for the current school year with the potential to renew for the next school year.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 nursing care in the MD room for a student with a complex medical history who does not stay all day
- Monitoring and intervening as necessary for students medical and safety needs, including common seizures requiring Vagal Nerve Stimulator (VNS) intervention
- Administering tube feedings and assisting with activities of daily living
- Supporting other students health and safety when not engaged in the 1:1 assignment
- Collaborating with educational staff to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current and valid LPN/LVN license
- Experience in school nursing or pediatric care preferred
- Ability to manage complex medical needs including seizure intervention and tube feeding
- Strong observational skills and responsiveness to emergencies
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Location: Woodford, VA (Courtland Elementary School)
This role requires availability for a 37.5-hour workweek. Immediate start is necessary to backfill the position.
