Job Description

A skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is sought to provide dedicated medical care in a high school setting, supporting a medically fragile student with complex healthcare needs. This full-time, contract position in Escondido, CA, involves delivering specialized nursing services while accompanying the student via bus transportation during the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one nursing care for a medically fragile high school student.
  • Manage complex medical needs including ventilators, tracheostomies, and gastrostomy tubes.
  • Monitor and respond to any changes in the students health, ensuring safety at all times.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and healthcare teams to maintain continuity of care.
  • Accompany the student on bus transportation, requiring flexibility and commitment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid California LVN certification is mandatory.
  • Prior school nursing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience caring for pediatric patients with ventilators, trachs, and g-tubes.
  • Ability to ride the school bus alongside the student as part of daily duties.
  • Strong communication skills and the capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comfortable with a full-time schedule of approximately 35-40 hours per week, five days a week.

Additional Position Details:

  • Caseload consists of one high school student requiring intensive nursing support.
  • Supervision will be provided by appropriate staff within the school setting.
  • Contract duration aligned with the school calendar year, starting potentially in January and continuing through mid-June.
