A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is needed to provide essential healthcare support within a classroom setting for K-12 students in the Norfolk, VA area. This contract position offers a dynamic role working alongside a certified teacher and two paraprofessionals, delivering care to select students who require medical support. The position allows for flexible scheduling, with options for full-time or part-time hours, not exceeding 8 hours per day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care and health assessments to students requiring medical support in a school environment.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure the health and safety of all students.
- Administer medications, treatments, and emergency care as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor and document student health status and communicate with healthcare professionals and parents as needed.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment for all students.
Qualifications:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensure valid in Virginia.
- Experience in school nursing or pediatric care preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within an educational team.
- Ability to provide compassionate and attentive care to children and adolescents.
- Flexibility to adapt to the varying medical needs of students in the classroom.
Location: Norfolk, VA area
Contract Details:
- Start date as soon as possible through the remainder of the school year with intentions to renew.
- Flexible scheduling options available, with hours capped at 8 per day.
