An opportunity is available for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide dedicated one-on-one care for an elementary school student with a tracheostomy in the Tacoma, WA area. This contract role supports a trach-dependent student during school hours, ensuring their health and safety in a compassionate educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized nursing care to a trach-dependent elementary student
- Monitor and manage tracheostomy and ventilator needs throughout the school day
- Collaborate with school staff to create a safe and supportive environment
- Maintain accurate health records and communicate with healthcare providers as necessary
- Respond promptly to any medical emergencies or health concerns
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State LPN certification
- Proven experience working with trach and ventilator-dependent patients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary school team
- Strong communication and observational skills
Work Schedule and Location:
- Contract position based in the Tacoma, WA area, with coverage also in nearby Sumner and Graham
- Monday: 10:30 AM 4:00 PM
- Tuesday through Friday: 9:30 AM 4:00 PM
- Approximately 29 hours per week
- Position lasts through the end of the school year (EOSY)
- No bus riding or travel required; work is on-site with the assigned student
