Position Details
- Job Type: Full-Time, Full School Year Contract
- Caseload: multiple openings K-12 grades
- Location: Shrub Oak, NY
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care, including first aid, medication administration, and routine health monitoring, within the New York LPN scope of practice and under appropriate nursing direction.
- Support implementation of student health plans, including nursing services outlined in IEPs, 504 Plans, and Individual Health Plans (IHPs).
- Assist students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies, according to established care plans.
- Respond to medical emergencies following school protocols and promptly communicate concerns to the supervising nurse.
- Maintain accurate, confidential student health records.
- Collaborate with the supervising nurse, teachers, administrators, and families to support student health and attendance.
- Reinforce health education and preventive care practices.
- Follow district policies, applicable regulations, and state nursing standards.
Qualifications
- Active New York Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Completion of an approved practical nursing program
- Previous pediatric or school-based nursing experience preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
