Make a meaningful impact as you provide one-on-one healthcare support to a student who deserves attentive, compassionate care. In this rewarding contract role, youll work closely with a 7-year-old female student at an elementary school, ensuring her safety, comfort, and daily medical needs are met both in the classroom and during bus transportation to and from school.
Your day will begin with meeting the student at 9:00 am for bus pickup, and finish at 4:21 pm with drop off. She uses an adaptive stroller that requires gentle physical support, and relies on you for all aspects of her care, including diapering (on a height-adjustable table), routine transfers with another staff member, and medical management. Your expertise with G-tube and trach care will ensure she receives attentive, thorough daily support in a positive and nurturing environment. As she is non-verbal and not yet using her AAC device functionally, patience and understanding will be key to fostering connection and trust.
What youll bring:
- Valid LPN/LVN license with school nursing experience strongly preferred
- Expertise in G-tube and trach care
- Physical ability to assist with lifting/transferring using safety protocols
- Dedication to student dignity and respect in all interactions
- Team player with excellent communication skills
Your responsibilities:
- Provide direct, hands-on nursing care throughout the day, including managing medical devices
- Work collaboratively with school staff during transfers and routines
- Supervise and assist during bus rides to ensure safe travel
- Maintain accurate documentation of students care and progress
