A healthcare professional with specialized pediatric nursing skills is needed to provide dedicated 1:1 care for an elementary student with tracheostomy and ventilator dependence in the Puyallup, WA area. This contract position is designed to support a medically complex student within a school setting, offering a meaningful opportunity to blend nursing expertise with educational support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care to a trach/vent-dependent elementary student on a 1:1 basis during school hours
- Monitor respiratory status and provide ventilator management as needed
- Maintain tracheostomy care and respond promptly to medical needs or emergencies
- Collaborate with school staff and healthcare team to ensure seamless support for the student
- Assist with possible bus riding support, depending on confirmed requirements
- Document care and communicate effectively with the school team and family
Qualifications:
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) certification in Washington State
- Proven experience managing tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent pediatric patients
- Ability to work effectively in a school environment and follow relevant policies
- Strong communication skills and professionalism
- Flexibility to support approximately 30 hours per week, with potential for additional hours if bus support is needed
Location Details:
- Position is based primarily in Puyallup, WA, with possible assignments extending to nearby communities such as Sumner, Tacoma, and Graham
- Elementary school setting within a special services program
