A contract nursing opportunity is available in a school setting located in North Tonawanda, NY, serving students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. This role involves providing professional nursing care, conducting student evaluations, and supporting health services within one school site. The position is ideal for licensed practical nurses (LPN/LVN), registered nurses (RN), or certified nurse assistants (CNA) with experience or interest in school healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver routine school nurse duties including first aid, health screenings, and care plans
- Conduct vision and hearing exams as needed
- Evaluate and monitor health conditions of students, including those with mild to moderate special needs
- Train school staff in CPR techniques (training provided, not mandatory)
- Maintain accurate health records and communicate with parents and staff as appropriate
- Support a safe and healthy learning environment
Qualifications:
- Valid LPN/LVN, RN, or CNA certification with relevant school nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to adapt to various student health needs
- Previous experience working in educational or pediatric settings is a plus
Position Details:
- Location: North Tonawanda, NY
- Contract Duration: August 12 through September 30 (extension likely)
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6.5 hours per day (32.5 hours per week)
- Student Age Range: PreK-8th grade, including mild to moderate special education students
- Interview: Conducted via Zoom, scheduled Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
