Job Description

Healthcare professionals with experience in school nursing are needed for a contract role supporting students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in the Niagara Falls, NY area. This opportunity offers a dedicated schedule Monday through Friday, providing consistent hours in a school setting serving children with mild to moderate special education needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily nursing care including health assessments, medication administration, and student evaluations
  • Conduct screenings such as eye and ear exams as needed
  • Support and train school staff on health-related topics such as CPR (training preferred but not required)
  • Collaborate with school personnel to manage student health plans and respond to medical needs
  • Maintain health records and ensure compliance with school health policies

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) credential appropriate for school nursing duties
  • Experience working with school-aged children from preK to eighth grade
  • Comfort with managing mild to moderate special education health needs
  • Ability to perform student health evaluations and screenings
  • Effective communication skills to interact with students, staff, and families

Location and Schedule:

  • Contract role based in Niagara Falls, NY, with potential coverage in nearby Buffalo, Cheektowaga, and Lackawanna, NY
  • Monday through Friday, approximately 6.5 hours per day (32.5 hours per week)
  • Contract duration from mid-August through the end of September, with possible extension
