A full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) opportunity is available for a contract position supporting a middle school student with complex medical needs in a well-equipped school setting in Laconia, NH. This position offers the chance to provide specialized nursing care within an educational environment, focusing on compassionate support and daily health assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to a 13-year-old 7th grader diagnosed with Vanishing White Motor Disease, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and ensuring safety throughout the school day.
- Support mobility and positioning needs, including handling a manual wheelchair and preparing for a transition to a power wheelchair.
- Supervise nutritional intake during lunch and snack times.
- Assist with toileting, including the use of a toilet seating system and portable urinal.
- Collaborate with the onsite registered nurse and school staff to maintain a coordinated approach to the students care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of nursing activities and health status, adhering to school health policies and protocols.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New Hampshire.
- Pediatric nursing experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work full-time hours, Monday through Friday, approximately 35 hours per week (8:00 AM 3:00 PM).
- Compassionate approach and strong interpersonal skills to support a student with progressive neurological conditions.
- Willingness to participate in a Zoom interview.
This contract role starts as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year (June 11, 2026), with a strong likelihood of renewal for the next school year based on mutual interest.
