This contract role focuses on providing one-on-one support for a 7-year-old female student in an elementary school setting near Kent, WA. You'll play a vital part in her daily routine, ensuring her medical and personal care needs are met with compassion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 care and support for a non-verbal student with complex medical needs throughout the school day.
- Safely assist with riding the bus, managing morning pickup at 9:00 a.m. and afternoon drop-off at 4:21 p.m.
- Conduct G-tube feedings and tracheostomy care confidently and independently.
- Assist with transfers using an adaptive stroller (wheelchair), employing two-person techniques and mechanical aids for diapering and personal hygiene on a height-adjustable table.
- Collaborate effectively with school staff and communicate the students needs and progress.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive environment for the student to participate in school activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Current LPN/LVN license in Washington.
- Previous experience in a school setting is highly valued.
- Demonstrated expertise with both G-tube and trach care.
- Physical ability to safely support lifting and two-person transfers.
- Experience or comfort with non-verbal individuals and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), even if not used functionally.
- Strong teamwork skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude.
