Job Description

A contract opportunity is available for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide dedicated 1:1 nursing support for an elementary student with trach/vent needs. This position requires specialized skills and experience in trach and ventilator care to ensure the students health and safety during the school day.

Location: Kent, WA (with nearby postings in Sumner, Tacoma, and Graham)
Position Type: Contract Backfill (Current School Year)
Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, with potential for additional hours if bus riding support is required
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: End of School Year (EOSY)

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing skilled nursing care and daily health monitoring for the trach/vent-dependent student in a 1:1 setting
  • Collaborating closely with school staff and special services to maintain a safe learning environment
  • Assisting with airway management, suctioning, and emergency procedures as needed
  • Supporting the student on and potentially off the bus, pending confirmation of bus riding requirements
  • Maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with healthcare and educational policies

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State LPN licensure is required
  • Proven experience providing care to trach and ventilator-dependent pediatric patients is a must
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to the dynamic needs of the student and school environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with educators, families, and healthcare professionals
