Job Description

A full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is available for the current school year with the possibility of renewal for the next academic year. This role is based at an elementary school in Fredericksburg, VA, providing hands-on nursing support within a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a 1:1 LPN for a student with a complex medical history, providing direct care and supervision.
  • Monitor and manage medical needs including tube feedings and seizure interventions via Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS).
  • Support additional students with medical and safety care when the primary student is not present.
  • Assist with activities of daily living for students requiring nursing support.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for students requiring nursing assistance throughout the school day.
  • Collaborate with school staff and healthcare professionals to implement care plans effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid LPN/LVN license.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients in school or clinical settings, particularly those with complex medical needs.
  • Knowledge of seizure management and tube feeding procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with educators, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Patience, compassion, and attention to detail in student care.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position is based in Fredericksburg, VA.
  • Full-time contract role, approximately 37.5 hours per week.
  • Immediate availability preferred to backfill current need.
