Providing dedicated 1:1 nursing support in an early childhood education setting, this contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to deliver specialized care to young learners. The role involves working part-time mornings to support students with medical needs, including G-tube suctioning and tracheostomy care. This position is ideal for licensed practical nurses (LPN/LVN) or registered nurses (RN) with school nursing experience seeking a leave coverage role.
Location: Flint, MI Early Childhood School Setting
Schedule: Half-day coverage, 8:00 AM 12:00 PM
Dates Needed:
- February: 3, 9, 12, 17, 19
- March: 5, 11
- April: 7, 9, 10
- May: 7
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing support to a student with specialized medical needs
- Perform G-tube suctioning and tracheostomy care according to established protocols
- Assist with minimal toileting needs as required
- Ensure compliance with school and district health policies
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and observations
- Complete required onboarding steps including district badge acquisition and onsite fingerprinting
Qualifications:
- Current LPN/LVN or RN licensure with school nursing experience preferred
- Proficient in tracheostomy and G-tube care
- Ability to work independently in a school environment supporting young children
- Compliance with district-required background screening and certifications
This temporary leave assignment offers a meaningful setting to apply your nursing skills while supporting early childhood education. Substitutes must accept the assignment by 8:00 AM or start of the school day.
