Job Description

An opportunity is available for a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide specialized nursing care to a medically fragile high school student in Escondido, CA. This contract position offers a unique setting where clinical skills intersect with educational support, focusing on delivering compassionate and skilled care within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to a 1:1 medically fragile high school student.
  • Manage complex medical needs including ventilators, tracheostomies, and gastrostomy tubes (g-tubes).
  • Accompany and support the student during bus transportation as needed.
  • Collaborate with school staff, including paraeducators, RBTs, CNAs, and BCBA consultants to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Document nursing interventions and communicate effectively with the broader educational and medical team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current California LVN license required.
  • Preferred experience working in school settings.
  • Hands-on experience with pediatrics and managing medical devices such as vents, trachs, and g-tubes.
  • Comfortable riding the bus with the student for transportation.
  • Ability to work full-time (35-40 hours per week), five days a week.

Location and Schedule:

  • Location: Escondido, California.
  • Workweek: Monday through Friday.
  • Caseload: One medically fragile high school student.
  • Contract duration aligned with the current school year, approximately from January to mid-June.
