Job Description

A healthcare role is available for a licensed practical nurse (LPN/LVN), registered nurse (RN), or certified nurse assistant (CNA) to provide essential nursing support within a school setting in the Buffalo, NY area. This contract opportunity spans from mid-August through the end of September with potential for extension and serves students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, including those with mild to moderate special education needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver typical school nurse duties including health evaluations and monitoring student wellness.
  • Conduct occasional student screenings such as eye and ear exams.
  • Provide support and care for students with various health needs, particularly those with disabilities.
  • Assist in managing health plans and responding to medical needs during the school day.
  • Potentially train staff in CPR, enhancing overall school health preparedness (training not mandatory).
  • Maintain accurate health records and collaborate closely with school personnel to support student health.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid LPN/LVN, RN, or CNA certification with applicable experience in school or pediatric settings.
  • Comfort working independently within one school site.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and families.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of a school health environment.
  • Previous experience working with children in grades preK8 is preferred.

This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule totaling 32.5 hours per week with consistent daily hours. Interviews are conducted via Zoom during flexible hours between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
