Step into a rewarding contract opportunity in the Buffalo, NY area, supporting students from pre-K to 8th grade as a school healthcare professional. This role welcomes Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN/LVN), Registered Nurses (RNs), and Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) eager to make a difference during the upcoming school year. With the flexibility to begin August 12th and a contract running through September 30th (with a strong chance of extension), youll be part of a dynamic school community, focusing on both routine and specialized care for a diverse student body, including those with mild to moderate disabilities.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid LPN/LVN, RN, or CNA credentials (school nurse experience preferred, but flexible)
- Experience working with school-aged children across various grade levels
- Ability to perform student evaluations and conduct basic screenings, such as vision and hearing
- Comfortable supporting students with mild to moderate special needs
- Strong communication skills; comfortable training staff in CPR (a plus, not required)
- CPR certification preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care and support on a single school campus
- Provide assessments, medication administration, and emergency care as needed
- Conduct periodic evaluations, including eye and ear screenings
- Document all nursing activities in accordance with school policies
- Assist with the education and training of staff on health-related topics
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to optimize student health and safety
