Job Description

Deliver comprehensive school health services in a dynamic PreK-8 educational setting in the Buffalo, NY area. This contract role provides an opportunity to apply nursing skills in a school environment, supporting students with mild to moderate special needs and promoting overall student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily nursing care and health screenings for students.
  • Conduct evaluations and routine health assessments, including possible eye and ear exams.
  • Collaborate with school staff to monitor student health and manage mild to moderate disabilities.
  • Offer guidance or optional training to staff on CPR techniques.
  • Maintain health records and communicate effectively with school personnel and families.
  • Respond promptly to student health concerns or emergencies during school hours.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid LPN/LVN, RN, or CNA certification with experience in school nursing preferred.
  • Previous work with school-aged children, especially PreK-8 grades.
  • Comfort working with students with special education needs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train or instruct staff.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to school health demands.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position based at one school site within the Buffalo, NY metro area including surrounding communities such as Cheektowaga and Lackawanna.
  • Contract duration from August 12th through September 30th with potential for extension.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, approximately 6.5 hours per day (32.5 hours weekly).
