Job Description

Bring your expertise as an LPN or RN to make a direct impact, providing 1:1 care for an 18-year-old student with complex medical needs. This contract position offers steady, long-term engagement, supporting a male student out of district who attends a specialized program. Youll play an essential role throughout his school day and transport, making a difference at every step.

You will start the day by meeting at the students home, assisting with morning routines, accompanying him on his van ride to school, supporting throughout the school program, and providing care during the return trip. The schedule encompasses around 40 hours per week, including summer sessions (July 6August 7). There is an expectation for continuity into the upcoming academic years, offering stability for those seeking ongoing assignments.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts LPN or RN nursing license (required)
  • Experience working in educational or pediatric settings, particularly with students requiring intensive medical support
  • Proficiency and comfort with pulmonary routines: nebulizer, chest physiotherapy with a vest, cough assist, and oral suctioning
  • Physical ability for full body range of motion support, knowledgeable in safe lifting/repositioning with ceiling lifts
  • Familiarity with TLSO (torso braces) and AFOs (ankle-foot orthotics)
  • Compassion, attentiveness, and championing student independence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing and personal care, including respiratory treatments, daily positioning, and specialized feeding/equipment management
  • Ensure student comfort and safety during all school activities and transportation
  • Partner with families, school staff, and transportation providers to deliver seamless, student-centered care
