Qualifications:

  • Valid California ASL teaching certification is required
  • Experience teaching high school students
  • Strong background in American Sign Language and deaf culture
  • Proven ability to adapt curriculum to a variety of learning needs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Dedication to empowering students with life skills for independence and success

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in American Sign Language and foundational life skills
  • Create an inclusive classroom atmosphere that supports diverse learners, including those with varying abilities
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction based on individual needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to maximize educational outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings as needed
  • Promote a positive and respectful environment, emphasizing growth and self-advocacy for every student
