Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Valid Louisiana Teaching License with all required endorsements for ESL/EL instruction
  • Demonstrated background as a general education ELA teacher or experience teaching English learners in school settings
  • Deep understanding of language acquisition strategies and best practices for inclusive classrooms
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to connect with students and colleagues from varied backgrounds
  • Commitment to collaboration and ongoing professional development

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement tailored lesson plans that target English language skills for non-native speakers
  • Create a welcoming and supportive environment that respects individual differences and fosters a sense of belonging
  • Assess student progress regularly, adjusting instruction to ensure mastery of reading, writing, listening, and speaking objectives
  • Collaborate with general education staff to reinforce language skills within academic content areas
  • Communicate clearly with students, families, and school personnel regarding progress and strategies for success
  • Maintain accurate student records and adhere to all district and licensure requirements

Key Details:

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, onsite only
  • Contract dates: ASAP through May 2027
  • Potential future opening, with final confirmation expected by July 2026
