Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English curriculum tailored to high school students, adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs.
  • Develop and implement classroom management strategies that foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative tools, offering constructive feedback to encourage academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, school social workers, and support staff to advocate for student success.
  • Participate actively in department meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development.
  • Communicate regularly with families to support student achievement and development.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current LA DOE teaching license (required).
  • Background in general education instruction with a focus on high school English.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with diverse learners and build meaningful relationships with students and families.
  • Previous experience in a high school setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset.
