Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of middle school students as a Multi-Language/English Language Learner Teacher. This contract opportunity, based near New Britain, CT, is ideal for a passionate educator looking to empower learners from diverse backgrounds. The role is part-time3 days per week, totaling 21 hoursand runs from now until the end of the current school year.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Valid CT teaching certificate with TESOL or bilingual education endorsement
  • Appropriate education, preparation, and successful completion of required exams
  • Background in general education and experience teaching English Language Learners at the middle school level is highly valued
  • Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills
  • Ability to create an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and administrators

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction to multilingual students, supporting development in English language skills
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the varied linguistic and cultural needs of students
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Participate in team meetings, collaborate on instructional initiatives, and contribute expertise on language learning
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student growth and program goals
