Step into an impactful teaching role focused on middle school science, guiding students through a dynamic academic year from August 24, 2026 to June 10, 2027. This full-time contract position consists of 35 onsite hours per week in a supportive school setting, where youll have the opportunity to inspire young scientists in general education classrooms. While you may encounter a blend of student backgrounds and learning needs, all students requiring special education services are assigned a dedicated SPED teacher for additional support.
Ideal candidates possess a passion for education and a mastery of science content, along with the instructional versatility needed to deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons. Creativity in developing lesson plans, effective use of formative assessments, and commitment to differentiated instruction are essential. Strong classroom and behavioral management skills are key, as well as prior experience teaching in an urban environment. The ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel and adapt to the unique rhythms of a diverse student body will set you apart.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active, valid PA teaching certification or eligibility for an emergency teaching permit (bachelors degree required)
- Proven school-based teaching experience, especially with middle school grades
- Mastery of science content and best practices for instruction
- Demonstrated success managing classroom behavior and supporting diverse learners
- Reliable transport to maintain punctuality between 8:30AM-4PM; schedule cannot be modified
- Experience thriving in urban educational environments
- Comfortable adapting to the policies and culture of the district
