Inspire creativity and help shape young minds as a dedicated Art Teacher in the beautiful Southern Tier region of New York! This is a full-time contract opportunity supporting students in a local school districts general education program. Your passion for visual arts will empower students as you design and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in an onsite role.
Essential Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Visual Arts Initial Certificate (required)
- Previous experience teaching general education or art in a school setting preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning styles and needs
- Collaborative spirit for working with school staff and administration
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement creative lesson plans that align with the visual arts curriculum for grades K-12 (exact grade band to be confirmed)
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages artistic exploration
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to help each child reach their potential
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as needed
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and achievements
- Communicate regularly with families and colleagues to support student success
