Job Description

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is needed for a K-12 school setting in Birmingham, AL. This onsite position provides critical communication access for students requiring sign language support throughout the school year on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and staff
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Collaborate with educational teams to support student learning and accessibility needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and promote a respectful learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Valid Alabama Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting within educational settings
  • Experience working with K-12 students preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
