Job Description

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter role is available at a K-12 school in Birmingham, AL, offering an onsite contract position for the upcoming school year. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in educational interpreting, providing essential communication access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Alabama Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license is required
  • Experience working within K-12 educational settings preferred
  • Ability to facilitate clear and effective communication in classroom and social environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators, students, and support staff

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students and staff during instructional and non-instructional activities
